Trauma, PTSD, CPTSD & EMDR Therapy in Sudbury, Suffolk & Online

Helping adults heal from traumatic experiences that continue to affect their lives today

You may be here because you've been carrying something difficult for a long time, or because something overwhelming has happened more recently.

Perhaps you're constantly on edge, struggling to switch off, feeling exhausted, or wondering why experiences from the past continue to affect your life today. You may be noticing the impact in your relationships, your confidence, your sense of self, or your ability to feel safe and settled in the world.

Hi, I'm Nicola, a trauma counsellor and EMDR therapist. I work with adults navigating the effects of trauma, PTSD, and CPTSD, whether from long-standing experiences or something that has left you feeling unsettled more recently.

I offer in-person sessions in Sudbury, Suffolk and online throughout the UK.

What I can help with

Trauma & PTSD

PTSD often develops after a sudden overwhelming event or series of events, such as an accident, assault, medical trauma, abuse, childhood experiences, or any situation that felt frightening, overwhelming, or unsafe.

Even when you know the event is over, your body may still react as if it's happening now: intrusive memories, nightmares, avoidance, hypervigilance, or feeling constantly on edge.

I help you process what happened so your nervous system can settle, your body can feel safer, and the past can stop interrupting your present.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps with experiences that have felt traumatic or overwhelming.

It can help when certain moments or memories still live in your body, even when you know they’re over.

EMDR supports your brain to process what got stuck, so the past can start to feel like the past, rather than something you’re still living.

My approach

My approach draws on evidence based therapies that support both mind and body.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT offers a practical way of working with difficult thoughts and feelings, and finding ways to make changes that help you move forward.

IFS-informed therapy

IFS (Internal Family Systems) helps you understand why different parts of you react the way they do, especially during stress or overwhelm, and what might help you respond differently.

EMDR therapy

EMDR can help you process memories, emotions, or sensations that feel overwhelming. It supports your nervous system to feel more settled and grounded in the present when past experiences are still affecting you.

Somatic awareness

Somatic awareness means noticing how your body holds your experiences and understanding what your nervous system is doing, not just what your mind is thinking.
