Counselling & EMDR Therapy for Trauma, Grief, Anxiety & Low Mood

In-person in Sudbury, Suffolk and online throughout the UK

Life’s challenges can affect how we feel mentally, emotionally, and physically.

You might be:

  • feeling anxious, irritable, or tense

  • constantly on edge

  • unable to switch off

  • feeling low or flat

  • unmotivated

  • less interested in things you used to enjoy

If any of this feels familiar, therapy can provide a space to understand what you’re experiencing and explore what might help.

I’m Nicola, a trauma‑trained integrative counsellor. I work with adults navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, and low mood.

I offer in‑person sessions in Sudbury and online across the UK.

What I can help with

Trauma

Trauma can leave you with experiences and memories that continue to affect how you feel, how you connect with others, and how you see yourself.

Grief & loss

Grief can follow bereavement, trauma, attachment wounds, or sudden life changes, bringing waves of emotion or numbness as you navigate life after loss.

Anxiety & overwhelm

Anxiety and overwhelm can show up as worry, tension, racing thoughts, or feeling constantly on edge in your mind and body.

Low mood

Low mood can feel like flatness, disconnection, lack of motivation, or finding less joy in the things you once loved.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people recover from difficulties linked to traumatic or overwhelming experiences.

It can help when certain moments or memories still feel present in your body, even when you know they’re in the past. EMDR reduces the distress these memories cause by helping the brain reprocess them, so they become less overwhelming and less intrusive.

My approach

My approach draws on evidence based therapies that support both mind and body.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT offers a practical way of working with difficult thoughts and feelings, and finding ways to make changes that help you move forward.

IFS-informed therapy

IFS (Internal Family Systems) helps you understand why different parts of you react the way they do, especially during stress or overwhelm, and what might help them respond differently.

EMDR therapy

EMDR can help you process memories, emotions, or sensations that feel overwhelming. It supports your nervous system to feel more settled and grounded in the present when past experiences are still affecting you.

Somatic awareness

Somatic awareness means noticing how your body holds your experiences and understanding what your nervous system is doing, not just what your mind is thinking.
